1 .What Is Toastmasters ?

Jaipur toastmasters club is a non-profit organization designed to help individuals become better communicators through leadership training and public speaking practice. Through its thousands of member clubs, Toastmasters International offers a program of communication and leadership projects/pathways designed to help men and women learn the art of speaking, listening, and thinking.

2 .Why Join Toastmasters ?

These are few reasons to join Toastmasters:

  • Build your ability to motivate and persuade
  • Develop critical thinking and evaluation skills by evaluating members’ speeches

3. What Is Table Topics?

Table Topics is impromptu speaking. Members/guests will be given a topic on the spot and asked to speak for one to two minute on their feet (without prior preparation). This is the time to really test the skills being taught through the program.

4. What Happens At The Toastmasters Meetings?

Toastmasters meetings follow a prepared program that includes a variety of segments designed to boost and enhance your communication skills in different situations.
During a Toastmaster meeting, a member will chair the meeting as Toastmaster of the Day.
Other roles include:

  • Grammarian

    The grammarian introduces a word of the day which members are encouraged to use during the meeting. The grammarian also monitors our language usage.

  • Table Topics Master

    Table topic master helps us practice an impromptu speaking and thinking on our feet by asking us a question to which we have to provide a 1 to 2 minute response;

  • Prepared speeches

    Prepared speeches are delivere by members. Speeches are typically between 5 and 10 minutes long.

  • Evaluator

    an evaluator will be assigned to evaluate each prepared speaker. Evaluators tell us what we did well and identify any areas for improvement;

  • Timer

    Timer is responsible for timing everyone’s speeches.

  • Ah-counter

    Ah counter counts the number of times we use fill-in words such as: ums, you know, like, ahs, etc .

  • General Evaluator

    General evaluator provides a critique of the evening’s proceedings.
